Experience the world's greatest wildlife spectacle on an unforgettable migration safari to Kenya and Tanzania.

Up to two million herding animals, including wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, topi, hartebeest and impala, migrate seasonally, in a clockwise direction, from south Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya – all while desperately avoiding the jaws of the big cats and crocodiles who prey on the passing herd.

The scale of this event, and the encounters between predator and prey, offer an extraordinary and unequalled wildlife spectacle. Witnessing it firsthand is an awe-inspiring privilege and leaves you with unforgettable safari memories.

Safari in Samburu National Reserve

This morning you will travel by road to Kenya’s northern frontier, a wild and rugged locale; Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebras and Beisa Oryxes. Enjoy Ashnil Tented Camp, set in the cool shade beneath a canopy of acacia trees along the banks of the river.

Begin the second day in the bush by scanning the river from your tent’s veranda, a cup of steaming coffee in hand. Next search for leopard along the river before they retreat from the sun. Lastly, search for elephant and lion in the grasslands as they feed and before they also head to the cool waters and shade along the river.

Explore Lake Naivasha

Today our adventures begin with a morning game drive to finish exploring the majestic wildlife within Samburu National Park. Upon finishing your game drive, enjoy a delicious breakfast and prepare to depart for Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for an afternoon lunch.

There are a wide range of optional activities to choose from to finish out your day.

Maybe a boat ride on the lake? How about an informative nature walk at Crescent Island discovering the unique wildlife that roams within it? Or you may wish to lounge by the pool admiring the view of zebras, giraffes ad waterbuck just outside the fence.

On the second morning, enjoy early breakfast at the lodge and depart to Hell's Gate National Park. Located between beautiful Lake Naivasha and the twin Longonot and Suswa volcanoes, Hell's Gate is one of Africa's most visually stunning parks.

While Hell's Gate is known primarily for its landscape, there is still game to be spotted within the park. Buffalo and antelopes are especially common sights, and the park is also home to a variety of birds; there are no predators or dangerous large game in the park.

Your day tour includes bicycle rental, and you'll trade your safari vehicle for a bike to begin your journey through the park. Don't worry! Your car will drive behind you to ensure you've got a place to rest if you get too tired.

Your first stop will be the spectacular Fisher's Tower, where the adventurous can choose to ascend the 45m tower. Equipment can be rented on the spot, and all climbs are guided by local professionals.

From here, you've got a long but scenic ride to the famous Hell's Gate Gorge - where you can walk and climb your way through the distinctive terrain that helped inspire Disney's famous The Lion King.

After a fun and tiring day of exploration, you'll return to Lodge/ camp in good time for lunch, afternoon will be spent relaxing.

The famous Masai Mara

This morning we will drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains, famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration and is also the home of the Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino.

Take your first glimpses of the vast savannah and wildlife on your way to the camp. Lunch at the camp and then depart on an afternoon game run. The Mara Game Reserve is one of the greatest wilderness areas of the world where large mammals are varied and easy to see.

The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues on the second day, with extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.

Wake up to the sights and sounds of one of the world’s premier wildlife destinations. In the Masai Mara Reserve live 95 species of mammals and 570 species of birds; an impressive number, making this area an unique destination for game safaris, one of the best places in all of Africa.

Odyssey Safari’s turned our “vacation” into a lifetime of memories. We handed them our wishlist and they made it happen. There were a few bumps in the road along the way because of the airline personnel shortage but Odyssey stepped in and sorted airline as well as safari schedules.

Our time with our guide Erastus will long be a favorite memory. His knowledge, patience, service and friendly demeanor enhanced the awe inspiring landscape of animals and adventure.

Odyssey was recommended to us by a friend and I will unreservedly recommend them to anyone.

We recently took a 10 day private safari to Kenya with Odyssey Safaris. There were 11 of us including family and friends on this safari. From the time we interacted with Mark and Lucy to set out the itinerary to the various conversations we had prior to the trip, we knew that Odyssey would provide the best services possible. The entire experience was amazing. The hotel and camp accommodations, food, transportation and game drives were superbly organized and top class. The guides, Simon and Jackson, were super knowledgeable and very accommodating of the requests. We were able to witness all the Big 5 and more animals, various bird species and the natural scenery in the Amboseli National Park, Lake Naivasha and the Masaai Mara National Park. We would highly recommend Odyssey Safaris for anyone thinking of organizing such Safari trips.

Booked a last minute Safari to Kenya, to take advantage of terrific airfares from the States and to get ahead of the crowds, once people rush back to Africa to see the amazing wildlife, geography, and kind people. Odyssey navigated every detail - took the time to interview me and match what they learned to the type of accommodations and safari experience I was looking for. On a scale of 1-10, in multiple factors, they scored 10 each time - it was a flawless (and relaxing) trip.

What can I say! I definitely am blown away by Odyssey Safari. Before even arriving to Kenya Lucy was prompt in emailing us back and forth regarding the safari and what we would need for our visit. Everything was wonderful from the moment we were picked up from the airport by our tour guide Jackson who was on time at the airport and was waiting with a sign with our names on it. Jackson was great as our safari driver! We were able to see all big five animals up close and person. Jackson made sure that we had an incredible visit on our safari from the game rides to make sure we were comfortable in the lodges we stayed at. I will definitely be back again and will be requesting Jackson as my tour guide.

I would also highly recommend Odyssey Safaris for anyone looking to go to Africa. The hotels were clean, and considering that they had been closed for a year, they were in good order. The food was good and every member of the staff I encountered at each hotel, were kind and helpful. I will direct others who wish to go on a safari to your company. I have a few friends who are now looking to arrange a safari! Thank you for your exemplary organization of our safari and for having an amazing guide on staff.

We just returned how from one of the most incredible journeys I have every experienced, and I have explored hundreds of cities around the globe. An African Safari has always been a lot the top of my “must do” list, but timing and the expense have always held me back.

My takeaways for those considering the trip: 1) Odyssey Safaris was a pleasure to work with, and we will book more trips through them 2) Take advantage of the upgrades and excursions — they only add to the experience and your ability to relax and truly envelop yourself, and 3) Have an open mind — Hakuna Matatta.
